Linux System Call Reference — licensing and source notices The original application, importer, tests, documentation, and generated JSON compilation are licensed under GNU GPL version 2 only (GPL-2.0-only). The software is provided without warranty; see the complete license: /syscall/licenses/GPL-2.0-only.txt Imported Linux material retains its original copyright notices, SPDX license expressions, and exceptions. Linux internal headers are not all UAPI headers. The Linux-syscall-note applies only where granted by upstream; we do not apply it to the entire application or to all generated data. Its complete text: /syscall/licenses/Linux-syscall-note.txt Each release includes its exact input source files and original notices: /syscall/data/v6.12/sources.json /syscall/data/v6.18/sources.json /syscall/data/v7.3/sources.json For a release such as v7.3, read its kernel license notices at: /syscall/data/v7.3/sources/COPYING /syscall/data/v7.3/sources/LICENSES/preferred/GPL-2.0 /syscall/data/v7.3/sources/LICENSES/exceptions/Linux-syscall-note For any new release, use /syscall/data/manifest.json and then /syscall/data//sources.json. Each architecture JSON includes licensing and source provenance. The original input files are under /syscall/data//sources/. The raw upstream endpoint represents Git symlinks as target-path text; such entries are identified in sources.json. Data was modified by syscall-reference: tables and C declarations were parsed, filtered by architecture/ABI, and converted to JSON. Bundled input text is unchanged and its SHA-256 digest is recorded. Copyright notices from the inputs remain in those files, including credits to Randy Dunlap, Open Source Development Labs, Jaswinder Singh Rajput, and other Linux contributors. Source for this application and generator is supplied in the project repository and in the downloadable source archive: /syscall/downloads/syscall-reference-source.tar.gz When distributing it or its data, include the source, scripts/sync_kernel.py, LICENSE, LICENSING.md, THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md, and bundled Linux inputs/notices. The source policies and distribution instructions are in LICENSING.md. No exclusive ownership of syscall facts is claimed. Upstream permissions are not revoked or replaced by this project's license. This project is independent of GNU, the Free Software Foundation, Linux maintainers, and syscall.sh.
